Paddy Maguire has been a broadcast journalist for ten years, working as a reporter, stringer, producer and presenter for international broadcasters including the BBC, Deutsche Welle and now Radio Netherlands.
His work has ranged from documentaries and feature making to live news presenting and reporting, covering a wide range of subjects from business and the arts to human interest and breaking news.
His first encounter with radio came in 1998 while promoting a 12 month sponsored expedition to India on local radio networks in the UK. He subsequently fused a love of the subcontinent with a career in broadcast journalism, during which time he has worked as a reporter and producer across BBC networks for flagship programmes including From Our Own Correspondent and Outlook.
He has lived and worked abroad extensively. Regular and prolonged stints in India have included work as a stringer for the BBC covering the aftermath of the Asian tsunami, investigative reports into the treatment of the blind and working in the Bollywood film industry.
A Radio 4 series "Route 66" saw him travel the length and breadth of the UK on number 66 buses to scratch the multicultural underbelly of 21st century Britain.
His current role as a producer and presenter with the Newsline team at Radio Netherlands Worldwide requires in-depth knowledge of the global news and current affairs agenda. Every day is different and demands fast reaction to international stories as they break, whether on air or online.
