Two Buddhist monks have burnt themselves alive in Lhasa, the capital of China's Tibetan Autonomous Region, the US-based broadcaster Radio Free Asia said.

The monks set themselves on fire on Sunday outside a Buddhist temple in Lhasa, the broadcaster said, in the first reported self-immolations in the city, which has been under heavy security since deadly riots broke out in 2008.
