Thai opposition spills own blood 'for democracy'

Published on 16 March 2010 - 4:36pm
More about:

Opponents of the Thai government have demonstratively poured their own blood on the ground outside the seat of government in the capital, Bangkok. The opposition leader said the symbolic gesture demonstrated the protesters' willingness to spill their blood for democracy.

Tens of thousands of supporters of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra took to the streets in Bangkok once again today. They claim current  Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva came to power illegally and demand that he step down. The prime minister, however, is refusing to give in to their demands.
