Georgia's breakaway region, South Ossetia, has held parliamentary elections and the ruling Yedinstvo party has booked a major victory. President Eduard Kokoity's party won just over 46 percent of the vote.
The poll was only contested by parties which accept the strictly pro-Russian position of Mr Kokojty's regime. The central electoral committee had banned the only two real opposition parties from taking part in the election. In response, the opposition called for a boycott of the poll, and Georgia dubbed the election a sham.
