South Africa arrests 4 over Rwandan general's shooting

Published on : 21 June 2010 - 12:01pm | By International Justice Desk (RNW)
More about:

South African police said on Monday they had arrested four people for the shooting of an exiled Rwandan army general on Saturday.

Police spokesman Govind Samy would not give the nationality of those arrested, saying: "We are still busy with the investigation."

Lieutenant-General Faustin Kayumba Nyamwasa was in hospital after being shot in the stomach in what his wife said was an assassination attempt.

Nyamwasa fled to South Africa this year after falling out with President Paul Kagame, later accusing him of using an anti-corruption campaign to frame opponents.
