Somalian rebels threaten to enter Kenya

Published on 11 June 2009 - 9:31pm
More about:

Somalian rebel leader Sheikh Abdiqani Mohamed has threatened to enter Kenya if Nairobi does not withdraw its soldiers from the Somalian border.

Kenya has large numbers of troops stationed near in the border region. The Islamist rebel movement al-Shabaab has seized control of most of the southern half of the country, including the port of Kismayo and most of the capital Mogadishu. Kenya's support for the Somalian government is a thorn in the side of the rebels.
