Shanghai dairy closed over tainted milk

Published on 2 January 2010 - 2:58pm
More about:

The Chinese authorities have closed a dairy in Shanghai after tests found its powdered and condensed milk products were contaminated with the toxic chemical melamine. |

Three of the firm's executives have been arrested. All of the company's warehouses have been shut down. The authorities are considering recalling the products in several provinces.

In 2008, two executives were executed after six babies died and 300,000 became ill from milk contaminated by melamine.
