The signing of a protocol on cooperation between the State Prosecutor's Offices of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the prosecution of war crimes has been cancelled, the spokesman for the Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor's Office, Bruno Vekaric, told reporters on Tuesday.
Vekaric told the Serbian news agency Tanjug that the protocol should have been signed in Brussels on Tuesday, but that Bosnians backed out of the agreement.
Tanjug said the protocol will not be signed because the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina has not given its consent yet.
On November 23, representatives of the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Office of the Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor agreed on the text of a special protocol designed to regulate cooperation in the prosecution of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.
After closed-door talks, the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor of Bosnia and Herzegovina did not state how cooperation in the prosecution of war crimes, which has been disputable so far, would proceed.
It was only said that the talks were held through the mediation of the US government, the Delegation of the European Union and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
