Malaysian Muslims attacked three churches with fire bombs, seriously damaging one. The attacks preceded protests against the decision of the Supreme Court to allow Christians to use the word "Allah" for God.

In some Islamic countries the word God does not exist, only Allah. But many Malaysian Muslims assume that they have the exclusive right to the use of the word "Allah".

Prime Minister Najib Razak condemned the attacks on the churches, saying that the religious harmony in Malaysia may be jeopardised.
