Munch litho stolen in Norway

Published on 13 November 2009 - 12:18pm
More about:

Another work of art by expressionist Norwegian painter Edvard Munch has been stolen in Norway.

This time a lithograph called History has been stolen from an art gallery in the Norwegian capital. The unique hand-coloured litho is worth 240,000 euros.

Five years ago, the world famous paintings The Scream and Madonna were stolen from the Munch Museum in Oslo in an armed raid in broad daylight.

The two paintings were found two years later. Three men were convicted of the robbery. It is not clear what their motive was. No ransom was demanded and the paintings were too well-known to sell.
