In the Russian capital Moscow, police have arrested dozens of people protesting for increased human rights in the country.
Police say they arrested 50 people; the demonstrators say the number was 70. There are also disagreements about the number of protestors present. The police say no more than 100 took to the streets. The organisers of the demonstration say it was 500.
Human rights organisations say the Kremlin has muzzled the media and curtailed freedoms since Vladimir Putin became president in 2000. They add that the situation has not improved under his successor, Dmitry Medvedev.
