The number of people who have died from Mexican flu across the world has now reached at least 700. The death toll has risen dramatically in the last two weeks. Fourteen days ago the World Health Organisation put the number of fatalities at 429.
The exact number of people infected with the H1N1 virus is unknown because it is now, according to WHO, impossible to keep an accurate record of the number of new cases. Estimates put the total at over 125,000.
The Dutch Institute of Public Health and the Environment has now recorded 211 cases in the Netherlands, compared to 175 one week ago.
