"Unless and only when the matter of the ICC [International Criminal Court] is settled, none of our soldiers will get out of the bush and government should forget about any signature." Quoted here by the IRIN Agency, on July 9, during peace negotiations with the Ugandan Government, Martin Ojur, head of the delegation of rebels from the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), comments the interim agreement reached between Kampala and the LRA. Three of their leaders are wanted by the ICC (IJT-33). The two parties accepted that authors of crimes against civilian populations be tried. The LRA fighters could face traditional justice in northern Uganda, while government soldiers could go before military tribunals. On July 4, Uganda's interior minister said that his country's criminal code would be amended to try war crimes, IRIN reports.
