Khmer Rouge trial enters final week

Former Khmer Rouge prison chief Kaing Guek Eav -- better known as Duch – is to make his final statement at his trial this week in front of surviving victims of the Khmer Rouge regime. 

He is charged with crimes against humanity, war crimes, torture and premeditated murder. He has already admitted to his role as prison chief and has asked for the forgiveness of victim’s families and the surviving victims themselves. He has also denied direct involvement in the murder and torture of victims.
