The International Monetary Fund expects a small recovery for the Netherlands economy in 2010. It is predicting a growth of just 0.75 percent.
The IMF said the global economic crisis has hit the open Dutch economy relatively hard. It added that it supports the measures the Dutch cabinet has taken to combat the crisis but believes that support for the country’s banks should be ended as soon as possible.
Reacting to the statement, Minister of Finance Wouter Bos said the banks had already begun to repay the money loaned to them.
