At least 400 people who were evacuated after a volcano erupted in Iceland have returned home.
The government of Iceland declared a state of emergency in the south of the country, when a volcano near the Eyjafjallajoekull glacier erupted.
The authorities feared the eruption would melt part of the glacier and cause flooding.
The Eyjafjallajoekull glacier is located 120 kilometres south of the capital Reykjavik. The roads in the area were closed as a precaution.
The last eruption in the area took place in 1821.
