ICC studies the Patassé case

Published on : 8 May 2006 - 12:00am | By International Justice Tribune
More about:

The prosecutor for the International Criminal Court (ICC), Luis Moreno Ocampo, told Irin agency on April 25 that he was studying "the admissibility of the war crimes file" in the suit filed in The Hague against former president of Central African Republic (CAR) Ange-Félix Patassé and four of his collaborators. Officially, the ICC has been studying the CAR case since January 2004, but a recent decision by the Central African court of cassation gave the ICC a decisive green light. Patassé, who is living in exile in Togo, announced that he is "willing to appear before the ICC if it is proven and established that he committed embezzlement or crimes during his term" of office.
