Haitian "orphans" reunited with parents

Published on 18 March 2010 - 1:12pm
More about:

In Haiti, 32 children abducted by US missionaries after the earthquake have been reunited with their parents. One child is still in an orphanage.

In late January, ten US missionaries were arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, as they were about to take the children across the border into the Dominican Republic. The missionaries claimed the children had been orphaned by the earthquake. The leader of the group is still being detained.

The commission preparing a conference of donor countries for Haiti has proposed giving 14 billion dollars towards reconstruction. The donor conference will be held in the United Nations building in New York on 31 March and attended by 28 countries.
