Three detainees, who were sent to Slovakia from the US detention centre at Guantanamo Bay in January, went on hunger strike on Thursday, Amnesty International Slovakia reported.
The three individuals were placed in a camp run by the interior ministry for asylum seekers in the eastern part of Slovakia on January 25, according to police.
"Three detainees went on hunger strike, due to unsatisfactory conditions at the Medvedovo camp, located in the south-western Slovakia," daily newspaper SME quoted Branislav Tichy, head of Slovak branch of Amnesty International as saying.
The interior ministry was not available for an immediate comment on the report or for a clarification of the current location of the three individuals.
Tichy, who said the human rights watchdog was contacted by one of the prisoners by telephone, added the detainees complained about being held in isolation with only visits from their lawyers.
Early in January Slovakia announced it would take the three detainees under an EU-US agreement aimed at helping President Barack Obama close the controversial prison on the island of Cuba.
