On February 20, the investigating chamber of the Paris Appeals Court paved the way for trials in France for two Rwandans accused of participating in the 1994 genocide. Priest Wenceslas Munyeshaka and Laurent Bucyibaruta, a former prefect in southern Rwanda, were indicted by the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) and were under investigation in France (for 13 and 8 years, respectively). The same chamber also ruled in favor of transferring a third suspect, Laurent Ntawukuriryayo, from France to the ICTR. His lawyers plan to contest this decision.
