FC Twente strengthens League lead

FC Twente increased its Premier League leadership thanks to Eindhoven PSV's 4-1 away defeat on Sunday against Amsterdam's Ajax. Siem de Jong, Urby Emanuelson, Marko Pantelic and Luis Suárez scored for Ajax. Balázs Dzudzsák scored for PSV with a penalty.

On Friday, FC Twente notched up a 3-1 victory against ADO Den Haag. With just seven matches to go, the Tukkers now have 70 points, five more than PSV and six more than Ajax.

In other Sunday matches, Tilburg's Willem II won 3-1 at home against Sparta Rotterdam with a first half goal from Frank Demouge and an own goal from Sparta's Ayodele Adeleye. In the second half, Stef Nijland scored for Willem II and Rydell Poepon scored for Sparta.

Rotterdam's Feyenoord drew 1-1 against Heracles Almelo, with Ron Vlaar equalizing in the last few seconds of the game after Everton had scored for Heracles. Thanks to a goal by Roy Beerens, sc Heerenveen made it 1-0 against Arnhem Vitesse.

On Saturday, FC Groningen eased ahead of NAC in the League rankings with a 3-0 win over the team from Breda. Alkmaar AZ scored a 6-2 victory against RKC Waalwijk at home. VVV Venlo lost 1-0 at home to FC Utrecht, while NEC lost 2-0 at home in Nijmegen to Roda JC.

After 27 matches, the top five teams are as follows:

1. FC Twente - 70 points
2. PSV - 65 points
3. Ajax - 64 points
4. Feyenoord - 51 points
5. AZ - 45 points
