Published on 13 March 2010 - 5:39pm
More about:

The Dutch men’s field hockey team has won a bronze medal at the 2010 Hockey World Cup in New Delhi in India.

In the final for third place, they beat England 4-3. An early first half goal by Teun van Nooijer put the Netherlands into the lead, only for that lead to vanish as England scored three goals in a row. But the Dutch team struck back, and with three more goals from Taeke Taekema, Klaas Vermeulen and Rogier Hofman, ended the match in victory.

In the final, played on Saturday, Australia won gold with a 2-1 defeat of Germany.

Even if they didn`t manage to get the gold medal, I just love these guys. Hockey pool is their life. You just see how they play in utter passion and commitment. They are still are sport stars, no matter what. It`s important for them to know that fans are very proud of their entire work. On their coming back from India, they`ll feel our support and encouragement back in their homeland.
