Following an autopsy, it now appears that Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, the Hamas leader who was murdered last month in a luxury hotel in Dubai, was drugged before he was asphyxiated.

Police in Dubai believe Israel was behind the murder and that a team of assassins travelled to and from Dubai under false British, Irish, French, German and Australian passports.

This has led to diplomatic tensions between Israel and the countries involved. British police are currently in Israel investigating the British Israelis whose passports were misused. The authorities have emphasised that the people being questioned are not suspected of murder.
