Car bombs explodes in Athens

Published on 2 September 2009 - 10:14am
More about:

A car bomb has exploded near the stock exchange in the Greek capital Athens.

Eight cars caught fire and a woman was slightly injured. Police say there is little damage to the building, but the stock exchange director disputes this.

Police had cleared the area before the bomb went off after a Greek newspaper received a tip. Another bomb exploded in Thessaloniki after police received a warning.

No-one has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
