Canadian authorities have extradited the controversial arms dealer Karlheinz Schreiber to his native Germany. He landed at Munich airport on Monday morning.
Mr Schreiber, who is 75-years-old and also possesses a Canadian passport, is alleged to have played a key role in the 1990s in a scandal involving Germany's Christian Democratic Union party. He is said to have paid leading CDU figures millions of euros in bribes on behalf of the German arms industry.
In Canada, he was involved in a similar affair with former Canadian prime minister Brian Mulroney.
German justice officials say they intend to prosecute Mr Schreiber for tax evasion, bribery and fraud.
