Button new Formula 1 champion

Published on 19 October 2009 - 8:02am
More about:

Following the Brazilian Grand Prix in São Paulo, British driver Jenson Button has become the new Formula 1 world champion. His Brawn GP team won the Constructors’ Championship. It is Button’s first world title.

Although Button placed fifth, and there is one more Formula 1 race to be held this season in Abu Dhabi, his final position was enough to place him ahead of all his competitors, including Germany's Sebastian Vettel and Brazil's Rubens Barichello.

The São Paulo race was won by Great Britain's Mark Webber, who drove for the Red Bull Racing team.
