Bosnian Serb gets 30 years over Srebrenica

Published on 16 October 2009 - 6:12pm
More about:

Bosnia's war crimes court has sentenced a former Serb officer to 30 years in prison for killing dozens of civilians during the 1995 Srebrencica massacre of some 8,000 Muslims.

Former army captain Milorad Trbic, 51, was also found guilty of genocide and the persecution and detention of thousands of civilians. The court acquitted him of genocide charges due to lack of evidence. The Bosnian war crimes court opened in 1995 to help alleviate the burden of the Yugoslavia war crimes tribunal in The Hague.
