Bombing kills dozens near Kabul

Published on 9 July 2009 - 9:35am
More about:

A bomb attack just south of the Afghan capital Kabul has claimed the lives of at least 25 people.

A lorry carrying wood overturned in Logar province in eastern Afghanistan on a major route to the capital Kabul. The bomb went off when people gathered at the scene to clear the road.

The explosives are said to have been hidden in the lorry's cargo and were detonated by remote control. Many school children and four Afghan police officers were caught in the blast.
