Bodies of two Palestinians found after Israeli raid

Published on : 8 January 2010 - 10:06am | By International Justice Desk
More about:

The bodies of a 14 year old boy and another Palestinian killed in Israeli air strikes were recovered on Friday from a smuggling tunnel in the southern Gaza Strip, Palestinian witnesses and medical workers said.

It brought to three the number of Palestinians killed in air strikes Israel launched on Thursday against several targets in the enclave after Palestinian militants fired a dozen mortar bombs and a rocket towards the Jewish state.

Palestinians said they recovered two bodies from a tunnel bombed by Israel, including the 14 year old boy. A third man was found dead at the site on Thursday.

The air strikes targeted Gaza City, Khan Younis and Rafah, which is on the Egyptian border, where Israel frequently targets tunnels it says Palestinians use to smuggle weapons from Egypt.

Palestinians say they need the tunnels to bring in staple goods in short supply because of an Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip.
