The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mahomed el-Baradei, is in Iran. He is there to discuss the inspection of a new installation for the enrichment of uranium.
On Thursday, following talks in Geneva between Iran, the five permanent members of the United nations Security Council, and Germany, Iran promised that IAEA inspectors would be given access to the complex, whose existence was announced just under two weeks ago.
Although the West suspects that Iran is working on the manufacture of nuclear weapons, Tehran insists its nuclear programme is intended only for peaceful purposes.
