Another racist attack in Australia

Published on 26 January 2010 - 11:42pm
More about:

There has been another suspected racist attack against Indian citizens in Australia.

Two Indian students were beaten up in Melbourne by unidentified attackers who are reported to have made racist remarks. One of the victims of the attack had to be admitted to hospital.

It is the eighth time this year that Indians have been attacked in Australia. Last year too, there were a number of similar incidents.

India has criticised the Australian police for not doing enough to protect foreign students.

On Tuesday, two left-wing demonstrators were arrested at the Australian Open tennis championships for chanting anti-racist slogans while dressed in Klu Klux Klan costumes. One of them was a nephew of Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.
