3 Bosnian Serbs convicted in Republika Srpska

Published on : 5 December 2005 - 1:00am | By International Justice Tribune
More about:

On 17 November, the District Court of Banja Luka sentenced Dragan Radakovic, Drasko Krndija and Radoslav Knezevic to a total of 55 years in jail for war crimes committed in Prijedor in 1994. The three Bosnian Serb former police officers were found guilty of murdering six Bosnian civilians in March 1994. Back in 1994 the three men were accused of murder but were then released. In the course of the appeal proceedings the charges were modified to war crimes and they were prosecuted for taking part in the ethnic cleansing of Bosnians and Croats in Prijedor. According to Reuters, it is the first conviction by a Court of Republika Srpska for war crimes committed by Bosnian Serbs against non-Serbs. Knezevic and Radakovic are in custody, while Krndija is still at large.
