In order to meet EU requirements for renewable energy production, the Netherlands has been building more wind power generators, commonly called windmills.

For years, there has been a plan to build more than 80 new windmills in the fishing town of Urk, but some locals say the windmills will be too expensive and will ruin the town's charm.

Nevertheless the government has approved plans. Municipal authorities in Urk say they will do everything in their power to stop the construction.
