Wife of Dutch jihadist speaks out

Published on : 12 September 2011 - 12:58pm | By Eric Beauchemin (Screenshot: )
More about:

The wife of a convicted Dutch jihadi terrorist, Samir Azzouz, has strongly condemned the way her husband is being treated. Azzouz is serving a nine-year sentence for plotting to murder several Dutch politicians, including former prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende.

Azzouz was recently transferred to the highest security prison in the country. He is the only prisoner. He has to spend 23 hours a day in his cell and is only allowed to go out for an hour a day to get some fresh air and exercise. His children are only allowed physical contact with him for 10 minutes every three months.

In an interview with a popular talk show, Abida Azzouz wore a veil to conceal her identity out of fear for her children’s safety.

Thanks for a very enjoyable and informative article.

Azzouz was convicted of terrorist plotting twice. The first time he got only three months for firearms possession even though police found maps of targets such as Schiphol airport at his house as well as fertilizer, chemicals used in explosives, ammunition, and a homemade bomb that didn't work.
Azzouz is potentially as dangerous as Norway's Breivik and apparently isn't changing his Islamist ideological tune. He got off very light with 9 years and is likely to attempt a strike again.
I don't buy the whining Abida Kabbaj's story that her veil is just a disguise. There are plenty of other ways to do that. It's also an Islamist statement and I don't believe a syllable that comes out of her mouth.

I don't have much sympathy for would-be terrorists.
But Azzouz's acts were no more 'Islamist' than Breivik's were Christian. Don't pretend that's not the case. Because that would be completely hypocritical.

Azzouz "left school before graduating. It was during his time in high school that he began following a radical form of islam."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samir_Azzouz (end of paragraph 2)
Islamism: Activist or political Islam, Islamic fundamentalism.
No pretense, just facts.

Anonymous 15 September 2011 - 9:47pm / U.S.A.

There's no such thing as a radical form of Islam. There is only Islam. The "moderate" Muslims are following the abrogated (nullified) - by Allah himself - teachings in the Revelation. The "moderates" are NON-practicing Muslims; the Jihadists are the practicing Muslims. The authentic Islam is a
violent death cult.

According to his manifesto, Breivik "considers himself a "cultural Christian" and a "modern-day crusader" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anders_Behring_Breivik
Of course Muslims are as horrified by terrorism as Christians are. These acts are not expressions of faith, but of hate.
Everyone knows this except the truly small-minded.

I never did say, nor would I say, that Breivik didn’t call himself a Christian. That was only your fantasy, as well as the notion that I wouldn’t be aware of this well publicized fact.
How Breivik identified himself doesn’t refute the fact that Azzouz was an Islamist with ties to militant Muslim network members who assert that their actions are backed by Quranic scripture.
Azzouz was clearly not just a “cultural Muslim”. He quotes sura 9:111 in his statement:
“Surely Allah has bought of the believers their persons and their property for this, that they shall have the garden; they fight in Allah's way, so they slay and are slain;”

"Everyone knows this except the truly small-minded."...If that is your problem, then expand your mind by researching further than wikipedia. Even a true, small-minded and awesome person should be able to grasp this simple truth. Everyone knows this. Well, almost everyone should know it.

Here's a tip. If you disagree with something someone has typed, try to debate it properly using facts. (e.g.: in the current debate you could declare Breivik not to be Christian, then try to provide some sort of backing for that claim) It's not simply a competition to see who types the most.

Hiram1 15 September 2011 - 2:54pm

I agree. Then you shouldn't whine about when others type "more" or "less" words. You might want to back your claims but then what good would that do. You set high standards for a forum of opinions but don't follow the same standards. Maybe, that is why you consider yourself awesome. The standards are standards you set for others are not applicable to you. You might take a break from looking at your reflection in the pool of water. Its not healthy to fall in love with your reflection. When someone drops a stone in the pool of water, you will find your reflection starting to distort it's self. The ripple is a message that reality is constantly changing. Don't let your awesome ego fool you into believing you are the center of the universe. When one tags himself/herself as awesome, they are useally just the opposite. My friend, you have a good day. P.S. Don't let this simple forum become to complicated. It is nothing but opinions. Everyone has an opinion.

Hiram1 13 September 2011 - 11:36pm

"But Azzouz's acts were no more 'Islamist' than Breivik's were Christian. Don't pretend that's not the case." Response: How did you come to your conclusion? Are you not also being hypocritical? You were hypocritical because you attacked without any facts; and, it appears that "Awesome Ted" was trying to pick the splinter out of someone's eyes while doing it with a beam in his eyes. Don't pretend that is not the case, my friend!

She is an accomplice of her husbands actions by defending him on national television! It really makes me mad that the media gives this trut voice on national television! Wat een rotwijf! Vuile vieze kankerlijers!

Hiram1 12 September 2011 - 7:43pm

"He is only in favour of violence to defend one's soul"... Response: What does one do to defend one soul? Be a true Muslim! What constitutes a "true" Muslim? One who obeys the Koran and one's immam (spiritual leader). Therefore, it is permitted to commit violence in order to defend the soul of Islam. Question: Why did she cover her face? She is telling you that she adheres to the "soul of Islam" and not to western values. Again, violence is permitted to defend one's soul! P.S. David, you stated "She will not say anything to further indite her husband save for criticing the system which now holds him." What did you expect her to do? If she believes it is okay to commit violence to defend one's soul, do you really think she was going to come out and say positive things about the people and system that incarcerates her husband? She has been conditioned to believe in her religion and support her husband.

She reminds me of someone.
You.

Hiram1 13 September 2011 - 11:26pm

Thanks, Ted. She stands by her convictions and she tells you what she believes. I appreciate the comment.

David Berridge 12 September 2011 - 4:52pm / Canada

To put this woman on television is to satisfy a media interest in sensetionalism for the public to see and meet the enemy. She will not say anything to further indite her husband save for criticing the system which now holds him. This is entirely predictable and well scripted for the medium which presents her to a mass audience.

S.E. Wilson 12 September 2011 - 4:44pm / denmark

Listen to her talking. The most amazing thing is she does not mention her husband plotting to kill so many people and an ex-prime minister. First and foremost she should condemned what he was doing, he is the guilty one planning to be a murder. They are so full of sin so they cannot see even the simple truth anymore. They are absolutely not suited to live in western countries. Let them go back where they came from because their mentality is such as his and hers - lets hate, destroy all the others. They are - most of them staying in Europe because of the social welfare but do not have decency to do anything good for the country, which kindly took them in the first place. Shame, shame on them

SandraV 12 September 2011 - 3:57pm / Nederlands

She should be convicted for being stupid enough to defend a would be killer! Why even give this trash media attention!

Cariad 12 September 2011 - 7:41pm / Netherlands

Could not agree more.... and if he thinks jail in the Netherlands is bad, jut wait until he finds out how luxurious it is in Morocco. Frankly I couldn't give a hoot as long as he is detained. He is a threat to the Western world.
