When military training goes too far

Published on : 9 July 2011 - 12:00pm | By Davion Ford (Photo: NOS)
More about:

The Dutch military calls upon its soldiers to carry out missions which can subject the troops to extreme levels of violence.

To this end, the Dutch military training curriculum includes a special self-defense exercise whereby trainees are forced to fight off an attack by a number of other soldiers.

During this exercise, a 20-year-old man was recently killed, which prompted Otte Tjepkema to publicise the injuries he sustained during a similar training session.
