Was the Iraq war inevitable?

Published on : 17 December 2009 - 5:39pm | By Thijs Westerbeek van Eerten
More about:

Before the war with Iraq, British prime minister Tony Blair knew Saddam Hussein did not have weapons of mass destruction. And in 2001 - two years before the invasion - US president Bush and Blair had already decided to go to war.

All of this is now being revealed at a public inquiry, currently underway in London, on the Iraq war. Senior foreign affairs correspondent Bernard Hammelburg tells us what is being revealed.

I hope that the revelations of Bush and Blair's duplicity will encourage the international community to shun them, and see them both charged as war criminals

Iraq was simply raped by the US and its allies. Many many Iraqis perished, many mosques and churches have been bombed and/or burned down, and the country itself is practically divided in three regions. Whereas the terrorist state of Iran has become a kind of super-power in the region.
The only good thing about this was is the demise of Saddam Hussain and his sons.

People swallow greedily any lie that flatters them, but they sip only little by little at a truth they find bitter.
Political truth is called a libel and religious truth a blasphemy.

I hope that the revelations of Bush and Blair's duplicity will encourage the international community to shun them, and see them both charged as war criminals.

There can be no justification for allowing these men to walk away from the results of their actions. Too many people have died for us to condone their actions by our silence.

Its a travesty of justice if Bush & Blair are not handcuffed to the Hague. Further USA & UK must foot war damages to Iraq.
