Unclaimed baggage auctions at Schiphol

Published on : 13 May 2011 - 12:19pm | By Patricia Cronie (Photo: RNW )
More about:

Unclaimed baggage at Schiphol airport is auctioned five times per year. All suitcases and possessions are then sold to the highest bidder.

A container with unnamed suitcases easily costs around 200 euro. It is a gamble, because you may not check beforehand to see what's inside. It could be a mountain of dirty washing or contain a new MP3 player.

Unclaimed baggage auctions should not be allowed! Airliners managed to loose two of my luggages in Amsterdam. I had no choice but pay everything by myself. I actually managed to get some compensation but the amount of money I got was ridiculous.
