During the Second World War, the Nazis confiscated tens of thousands of paintings, jewels, carpets and silverware from Jewish families across Europe. Many of these objects wound up in museums around the world, including in the Netherlands.
Recent research by a Dutch current affairs programme, Brandpunt, has revealed what happened to the collection of Paul May, a prominent Jewish banker. It managed to track down one of May's paintings in the Amsterdam Historical Museum.
