Since the current economic crisis hit the Netherlands, the Australian city of Sydney has been fairly inundated with Dutch nationals. They're not necessarily students either - often they are graduates, many of whom have already held jobs back home for a year or two.
With employment opportunities declining back home, these temporary Sydneysiders, and other Dutch folk in various locations across the globe - have been taking off, either traveling for a year or two, or doing something totally different: childminding or working in a bar, hotel or some such place. Their 'proper' careers have been put on hold for a while. After all, experience abroad may well prove useful later in life.
From Holland to New South Wales
Sten and Mireille are two of Dutch people who have gone to Sydney in order to make the best of the bad job situation back home in the Netherlands.

Popular dream
Research carried out in the United Kingdom has shown that one in seven of the British working population would like to work abroad. According to British recruitment agency Office Angels, the current generation of office workers places more importance on freedom;career building carries less weight.
People just starting out in work are often also happy to postpone their plans for the future so they can get experience abroad. And what better time to do just that than in an economic crisis? Sydney is one of the most popular destinations in this regard, and as the video shows, that's not only so with Brits.
