Miss Peru is determined to wear her devil costume for the Miss World competition on Sunday. Her fellow citizens hope there country's most beautiful woman will steal the show, but her choice of dress is causing a diplomatic row with Bolivia.
Bolivia claims that Miss Peru is misusing Bolivian cultural heritage. The costume the Peruvian beauty is planning to wear - a traditional dress with devil ears and eyes - is inspired by the traditional devil dance.
In the southern part of Peru ‘La Diablada’ is performed at carnaval. However, in Bolivia the dance is also used for the carnaval in Oruro which the United Nations has designated as Cultural World Heritage.
Bolivia is so proud of this status that its ministers are threatening to take Peru to the International Criminal Court in The Hague. But what will the parties be wearing?
