The number of people living under the poverty line in the Netherlands has increased for the fourth year in a row; now including over 1 million people. Poverty is also expected to increase in 2012. The hardest hit are children, single parent families, minorities and people who receive supplementary benefits.

Anthony, you should consider doing some research if you "truely" want to compare the Netherlands to the US. The poverty rate is almost the same. Medical care is easier to obtain there, but your chances of being cured are worse. But in any case, I encourage you to move out of the US as soon as you can. I would be willing to pay for your one-way ticket, provided you renounce US citizenship.

Worser than having little money, is the kind of 'support' unemployed people get sometimes here.Little understanding for problems about being rejected all the time when you try to find a job, for instance.
A decent provision for the poor, is a true test of civilization.
Anyone who has ever struggled with poverty knows how extremely expensive it is to be poor.
