In Holland, many people from a foreign background don't fully trust the Dutch medical system, so they travel to their country of origin for treatment. Many also have trouble communicating with their doctor in Dutch. So a group of doctors from the country's ethnic minority communities has decided to set up the first polyclinic (health centre which offers more than just general practitioner services) for patients whose first language is not Dutch. It will be opened next month in Amsterdam.

I find this very dusturbing. Why did these people come to Holland in the first place. To get away from their problamatic country in the first place. The Netherlands have given them another home have provided for them, given them money, houses etc. Now they are not trusting the Dutch Doctors etc. If they are so unhappy why dont they go back to their problematic countrieswheretheycamefrom And I am sure thatthe Dutch Government is providing enough money to help this Medical Centre. When does it stop like countries as the Netherland and also Australia help these people and then givethem whatever they want. They should assimilate better so that these demands do not happen. When I came here I had to assimilate. We even go so far here that we have to go to doctors who are not from Australia but came from another Country. Do we demand special clinics for our own people here.
I am so sick of these demands of these people who have been looked after and given another chance in life in another country and than they turn around and give all these demands.

"In Holland, many people from a foreign background don't fully trust the Dutch medical system, so they travel to their country of origin for treatment."....The Dutch medical system must really be in an horrific state to cause people to go their country of origin for treatment. I really feel sorry for those Dutch (who have no country of origin) when they get sick! The medical association in the Netherlands needs stricter standards for those who want to become medical doctors. You have a serious problem in the Netherlands when people have to travel outside the country for medical treatment.
i can't stand your comments. always so cynical, critical, and lambasting of your opinion onto others. you are a imperialist. you make me understand why censorship occurs in china.
anyway im a working american sap who can't travel outside or inside the US for medical treatment as i have not opted for lackluster health coverage through my employer/master.. you should feel bad for me instead.
and the millions of others like me. you should feel bad for americans, whose government recently finally took half a stand against the insurance lobby & corrupt officials (and by corrupt i mean any politician accepting special interest money, voting and legislating for special interests) recently in 2010 by outlawing the practice in insurance we call denying a claim- it's not covered. yes, today finally your insurance company cannot drop you when you need them and after you've paid your "premium" all these years. but all is still not well- far from it. many companies only offer meager coverage, so you're screwed if your sick, and with almost all companies, if you're too sick, you'll lose coverage because you can't work anymore!
i wish i could go see a doctor in holland!
"i can't stand your comments. always so cynical, critical, and lambasting of your opinion onto others. you are a imperialist. you make me understand why censorship occurs in china.".....Look who is lambasting about my 'pun'. Aren't you a little "cynical" of others who don't believe as you? Reflect on what you are saying. Your response is cynical and critical because you don't believe others have a right to have an opinion that differ from yours.
It is beyond me why anyone would not be thrilled with the fact that medical help IS actually available. Many people in this world don't get a chance to see a doctor. Dutch doctors and any doctor in any country goes through a minimum of 12 years of studying. Don't tell me all of the Netherlands has NO competent doctors. I know most doctors are very prepared to see patients. Some have nicer personalities then others and some are clueless about cutural issues. They CAN be taught! I hope both of you are ashamed of the way you speak of others. Walk in their shoes and maybe we can get along.
