Pee bags for Dutch train passengers

Published on : 10 October 2011 - 10:46am | By Eric Beauchemin (Screenshot: NOS)
More about:

The main Dutch railway company (NS) has unveiled plans to provide passengers with urinal bags on trains without toilets. Over 15 percent of trains on the Dutch network do not have toilet facilities.

The trains in question - known as Sprinters - operate on short-distance routes. Ever since they were introduced last year, passengers have been complaining about the lack of toilet facilities.

Many passengers expressed disbelief about the plans to provide bags. The Dutch transport minister also initially thought it was a joke. Melanie Schultz van Haegen has called for all Dutch trains to - once again - have toilets on board by 2025. NS has expressed surprise at the fuss being made about the 'pee bags'.

Good Heavens! The person who came up with this idea didn't carry it to its logical conclusion. Without restrooms, where will the passengers utilize the pee bags? Just get up and stand in the aisle in fill view of the other passengers? The man will unzip and the ladies will squat? Smarten up Please! Be civilized. Install some toilet facilities.
