Margot Frank has always been in the shadow of her more famous sister Anne. She too kept a diary when in hiding during World War II, but hers was never found. An exhibition at the Anne Frank House museum in Amsterdam is now putting the spotlight on Anne's introverted elder sister.
The exhibition sketches a portrait of Margot Frank using on-camera witness accounts, pictures, letters and objects. Some of these have been provided by Jetteke Frijda, a close friend of Margot. She said, "I'm so happy that Margot is at last getting some attention. My feeling is that she would have become an exceptional woman."
Anne
Ms Frijda also knew Anne quite well and says that she was a chatterbox. "Anne was always talking. In the first part of her diary she described one of her birthday parties. I was there too. I can see her before me, talking, talking, talking. You couldn't get a word in edgeways."
The exhibition runs until 15 September 2011.
