Older employees "too expensive"

A major Dutch IT company has presented plans to cut the salary of its older employees by up to 10%. Capgemini is going to ask 7% of its workforce - that's 400 people - to accept a voluntary pay cut. But it's not entirely voluntary - employees who don't agree are at a greater risk of losing their job. The measure will affect older workers in particular because they're relatively more expensive.

I wonder how this CEO will feel when his day arrives to have his salary cut or be out of a job. It is the experience of 'older' employees that are the basis for younger ones being properly trained to eventually take over. Older employees are not a piece of merchandise, disposable at any time. Absolutely NO ONE is exempted from growing older.

Don't make me laugh. Once when I returned to the Netherlands at the age of 45 I attempted to find all kinds of work. At the temporary employment agencies I was offered jobs. However, every time the employer heard my foreign-sounding name and age it appeared that they had made a mistake and the job was gone. This is the experience of many tens of thousands of unemployed in the Netherlands. I then worked at a radio station for many years. The first to be fired were the people with the most experience (above 50) who were born outside the country, many who had won prize-winning documentaries. The last I heard the radio station in question is campaigning for a free and critical press outside the country in question. Is this a symptom of hypocrisy, insanity, or both? Good luck with free speach! Not to speak of age discrimination. Unemployed

This is just pure greed of company's those older employees should form their own company's The have so much more experience than the young. If they only unite such company's a this one would be out of existence before they can say take a pay cut. Im astonished how easy it is to push even intelligent people around. Come on people mover your head unite from a fist against greed of others.

The only way to redeem yourself from this situation is to become self-employed. I have devoted 100's of hours to trying to find work, frankly it's virtually impossible.

However, if you receive an uitkering, according to the government's website, they are obliged to reintegrate you. However, in practice this is not what is occurring.

At least begin to do voluntary work, this may help with future employment chances and at the very least makes you appear less of a deadbeat.

Yes, we are to that point!
But the Dutch company only intends to cut the pay of elders. They have a champion in the USA! Observe what Americans voted for themselves.

His name, and associates: Barack Hussein Obama in collaboration with the Apollo Alliance has convinced the Democrat party to foister "ObamaCare" on the population of the USA. ObamaCare outdoes the Dutch firm, by a mile!

That law has a panel of 15 unelected individuals called the Independent Payment Advisory Board(IPAB). It's a dangerous condition of the law that circumvents the American constitution.

In their private meetings the board will determine which Americans will be permitted to get expensive treatment or any kind of elder treatment, even if the US Government is not paying the bill. That includes organ transplants, joint replacements or other life preserving procedures.

The most dastardly feature of the law is that this board can only be repealed if 60% of the House AND 60% of the Senate AND the President all agree to disband it ... during about 15 business days, with specific wording ... in the year 2017, and then the agreement would have no force until 2020. The law states if Congress fails to follow these precise steps, the American people’s elected representatives may never repeal IPAB, ever.
(And this is in America not China or Cuba or Russia! So, are we to that point?)

The IPAB has now such authority. Their only purpose is to determine what is the fair reimbursement for drugs and certain procedures. Most european countries have the same arrange, as do most of the private insurers in the US. Right now, reimbursement levels are affected by Congress, which are generally ignorant about healthcare technology and subject to the influence of campaign contributors. Sorry mate, you are misinformed on this.

If the older employees work is equal or better than Young people, and work a lot of time life, why they have to cut salaries ?
