Not in my backyard

More about:

In the northeastern province of Drenthe, there's growing opposition to plans to construct a mega wind park. The park will consist of over 100 windmills, each one over 200 metres high.

Local residents fear that the windmills will be an eye sore and disturb the peace and quiet of the province.
But farmers who will rent their land to place the windmills say the wind park could be a boon for the local economy. They also stand to earn tens of thousands of euros a year.

Looks like the Danish media are good @ hiding the fact that Industrial Wind turbines have not shown that they have NOT reduce Greenhouse gas emissions, NOT reduce the use of coal or other fossil fuels, NOT provided a reliable, dispatchable, abundant source of electrical generation or provide an economic boost to their country. Wind without huge gov't subsidies is not a viable source of energy. Denmark pays the highest rates for it's electricity in the world. Instead they focus on the NIMBY issues impacting residents with pending projects.
