New allegations against father of Dutch crown princess

Published on : 4 November 2011 - 8:55am | By Eric Beauchemin (Photo: ANP)
More about:

The role of the father of Dutch Princess Máxima, wife of the future king, is again under discussion in the Netherlands. The Labour Party says Jorge Zorreguieta should not attend the coronation of Prince Willem-Alexander when he ascends the throne.

Jorge Zorreguieta served as minister of agriculture in the government of Argentina’s former dictator, General Jorge Rafael Videla. The military regime waged a dirty war against its opponents between 1976 and 1981. Tens of thousands of people disappeared.

Jorge Zorreguieta has repeatedly said that he knew nothing about the atrocities against civilians. But a Dutch current affairs programme, Brandpunt, has uncovered new evidence that the princess’s father was indeed aware of at least a few of the cases. A prominent Argentinian human rights lawyer is hoping to bring Zorreguieta and other officials of the military regime to justice.

Murderous regimes have existed always in the history of mankind; the Dutch killed all the inhabitants of the isle of Banda(Indonesia), committing genocide, just to monopolize the cultivation and trade of spices.
Mr. Jorge Zorroguieta does not seems to have killed anybody, nor does he have committed genocide.

Legitimizing someone's monstrous acts of inhumanity by opening up the door into the royal house. How couldn't the Dutch Monarchy not know or canvas who Willem-Alexander was courting back in the day? It's simply disgraceful and appalling that they opened the door and welcomed a co-participant of a murderous regime.

And in what way is Maxima responsible for these things?
