Monument to WWII child rescue unveiled

Published on : 1 December 2011 - 2:23pm | By Eric Beauchemin (Screenshot: EenVandaag)
More about:

The mayor of Rotterdam, Ahmed Aboutaleb, has unveiled a monument in the Hook of Holland for the Kindertransport in the late 1930s.

The Kindertransport was a rescue operation that helped save the lives of 10,000 German-Jewish babies and children up to the age of 17. It took place between November 1938 and September 1939. The children were transported by train from Germany, Austria, Poland and Czechoslovakia to England via the Hook of Holland.

The British authorities only agreed to accept the children if they came without their parents. At the same time, the Nazis forbade the children to say goodbye to their parents at the train station.

The children who made the journey were sent on to camps or foster families. Many of the parents were later killed by the Nazis; close to 70 percent of the children never saw their parents again.

Very sad and emotional but this needs to be shown in all European countries as a reminder to never let it happen again.

The mayor of Rotterdam, Ahmed Aboutaleb - is he a Christian or a Mohammedan? Read what the koran says about Jews and Christians, particularly the later aggressive suras which abrogate (replace and deny) the earlier egalitarian verses.

There are millions of mohammedans who wish to see islam as the one and only ruling power in the world. Does this not make that person an odd and unfortunate choice for the unveiling. Or has he publicly disavowed what mohammedans call 'the lesser jihad', the fight for world hegemony and domination?
