Joran van der Sloot no longer denies murdering Peruvian student Stephany Flores. However, he's said he is not prepared to discuss the matter until his case goes to trial. Dutch crime reporter John van den Heuvel interviewed Joran van der Sloot at the infamous Castro Castro prison in Lima.
The journalist says van der Sloot wants to give his account of Ms Flores’ death in court. In the same interview, he admits to extorting money from Natalee Holloway’s family. Joran van der Sloot is the main suspect in the case of the missing US teenager, who disappeared in Aruba five years ago. Van der Sloot says he received money for information on the location of Ms Holloway’s body, but then pointed out a random spot.
The interview will be broadcast on Dutch commercial television channel RTL on Monday evening.

Rachel - having fun, perhaps at the expense of two families who each lost a daughter, is really not funny at all. In fact it is sad. Perhaps you think they will never read your comments, but remember, the Flores family found out about Joran on the internet. Maybe time to grow up and use the internet as a tool for communicating.
The cases surrounding Joran is undeniable to the fact this Joran is involved. Irrespective that there is not sufficient evidence, this Joran is highly calculative and predetermined, but deliberate intent to give many stories. A clever tactic in his pathological behaviour. Pathological men with his character defect are highly intelligent and this is why he had managed to beat justice. But in close observation of this person and his energy it is clear he is guilty and very clever . He is pathologically egotistical and has a hatred for women, with power obsessions. The police, judges fail to note the key factors in this character. He has made many stories. Why ?. A innocent person would not make up stories !. Look at his eyes and his manner. Any person, or should I say a women who have a acute sense of intuition can see clearly this man is a predetermined, manipulative pathological person who has killed two beautiful woment and perhaps others. This man no doubt will say another story in the murder of the Peru girl, a deliberate tactic to cause doubt, twisting deliberatley many stories to make deliberate confusion which will make the judges equit on doubt. Lawyers fail greatly the human ability to sense killers . They have allowed themselves to be conned by this cruel man.

Having said that, I agree with your first statement that Joran is a killer. And as for Mary Rachel, Joran was the last person to see Natalee, he changed his story to Aruban police many times, he gave interviews claiming he was there when Natalee died and that he dumped her body. The video evidence and confession in Peru are a damning indictment of an unremorseful defendant. There is absolutely nothing positive to be said about Joran other than he is/was a good looking teenager with a charming smile who has seduced many women into feeling sorry for him. These women do not understand rage from these kind of men until they experience it themselves. Alternately, they believe that they could change these men with the right kind of caring. The fact is that most psychopaths are charming, manipulative and often seductive. They lie very convincingly and the opportunity for successful treatment is negligible. There is something missing in their make-up: some call it empathy, some call it compassion, some call it the inability to care. It does not much matter what you call it. Psychopathic killers are sick but they are not treatable and need to be kept locked up or they will become serial killers like Bundy, Ramirez and Ng.
There will always be women who write to, support and marry these men even after they have been convicted after a trial that leaves no doubt of their guilt. Vinnie, don't be mad at them, feel sorry for them. None of these people are worth that much anger.

Joran is a pathological liar, as is seen on the undercover tapes and in his own interviews. He admits as much himself. Th young man killed Ms. Hollaway likey because she would not or could not have sex with him. That is what I would guess after reading his confession concerning the Peru Murder. He has, lterally, a murderous temper. When it flares he can kill, and he has admitted to killing. He is a beast of sorts, or so it seems.
If Joran is innocent of hurting Natalee Halloway, as the American police concluded, insanity may very well be responsible for the event in Peru. No one could have withstood the brutalization of Joran and his family, especially after his father died. It seems Miss Halloway's family began and is continuing this attack in an effort to avoid looking inward for reasons for her death. I hope Joran receives a fair trial in Peru. can a psychologist from Aruba and the Netherlands go to Peru to perform an accurate examination?
If Joran didn't hurt Natalee, as the American police concluded, insanity may very well be to blame for the event in Peru. I hope and pray he gets a fair trial and eventually gets the help he needs - no one could have tolerated the brutalization that the American media heaped on him and his family. If she actually died of alcohol poisoning, we owe him, his family, and the world a huge apology. With the strong, helping hand of psychiatry, perhaps he could still live a happy, productive life. If the world owes Mr van der Sloot an apology as alleged then have him reveal the whereabouts of her remains to allow the Holloways closure.

Something is definitely lost in translation here. I read all that was printed of the interview in De Telegraaf, and nothing was said about "no longer denies" murdering Stephany. "His words" etc. referred to the extortion of the Holloways. As I've written before at RNW, the Holloways and their supporters indeed have ruined his life from the age of seventeen and he has reason to hate them. It reminds me of several cases in Canada, wherein young men were convicted for murder and later proven innocent by DNA analysis. Only in the Holloway case, there wasn't even a proven murder.
Well, I thought my comments were over two months ago but I notice that the supporters of Joran are really on the ropes. Any little tidbit by his lawyers, "His words were probably mistranslated" will further their hopes. The rule of law must be respected but frankly, I don't see how this guy can be protected if released from prison.
True. I can just imagine the hoards of people who want to be know as "The One Who Got Joran!" Yeah, he won't make it 10' out of Castro Castro!
