Although both the Kenyan government and parliament have so far been reluctant to start investigations into the 2008 post-election violence, the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Luis Moreno-Ocampo, vows that those responsible will be prosecuted.
In January 2008 more than 1000 people were killed in the violence that broke out after much-disputed elections. Allegations are that high officials in both the government and parliament were involved.
Kenya has been under intense international pressure to prosecute both perpetrators and instigators. As the Kenyan government has failed to make any progresss the UN has ordered the International Criminal Court to start an investigation.
In an exclusive interview with Radio Netherlands Wordwide, Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Campo says that this process has yet to begin, but he adds that justice will be done.
